What is 3D lettering?
3D lettering (also called dimensional letters) are cut or fabricated characters that project from the wall or fascia, creating depth and premium presence. Options include flat-cut letters, fabricated returns, halo-lit (backlit), face-lit, edge-lit and mixed-material logos.
Popular materials & finishes
- Acrylic / PMMA – flat-cut or fabricated; clear, opal or coloured; great for face-lit LEDs.
- Aluminium – lightweight and corrosion-resistant; ideal for powder coating and 2K paint.
- Stainless steel – mirror or brushed (316 for coastal sites) for premium corporate looks.
- ACM / PVC / HDU – economical, paintable and stable for large letters.
- Timber & veneer – warm interiors; sealed for durability.
- Finishes – powder coat, 2K automotive paint, vinyl wrap (metallic, chrome, carbon), patina or anodised effects.
Illumination choices
- Halo-lit (backlit) – LEDs behind the letter create a soft glow on the wall.
- Face-lit – translucent acrylic faces push colour and brightness forward.
- Edge/side-lit – sleek light line around the letter perimeter.
- Non-illuminated – stud-mounted letters with standoffs for clean shadows.
We specify suitable LED modules (12/24 V), drivers and IP-ratings for indoor or outdoor use, then colour-calibrate on site.

FAQs
How long do LEDs last?
Quality modules offer 30,000–50,000 hours. Drivers are replaceable and we stock service parts.
Do I need consent?
Interior installs typically don’t. Exterior signage may require landlord approval and sometimes council consent—we’ll advise and prepare drawings.
Can letters be removed later?
Yes. Stud-mounted letters can be carefully removed and holes patched; we can provide a make-good service if you move sites.
